Waitress gracefully embarrasses customer who tips her $0 on a $400 bill, ends up getting over $100 in tip: ‘That’s your signature and that's your big fat ZERO.'

It's one thing to leave a small tip in a non-tipping society, but it is a complete other thing to not leave a tip at all in a society where people are living off of tips. If you leave a euro or two in Europe because the service was exceptional, that's fine. If you live a dollar or two on a $100 check in the U.S., then you are just a total entitled Karen. If you truly are anti-tipping, then you should be working on getting actual political policies changed, not shorting a waitress on her tip that she was going to use towards her rent that month. Like, grow some compassion! 

 

Recently, a waitress was able to turn her $0 tip into several hundreds. How? Well, she simply asked the person who didn't tip her what she could do next time to make their experience better so she could earn more than $0 on a $400 tab. Oh boy, oh boy, the party he was with, his own friends, quickly turned on him. One of his friends was even a bartender, someone who very specifically lives off of tips, and they were quick to shame him and even put down more of their own cash for her as tip. He ended up erasing the zero quickly, but the aura damage was done. Hopefully that teaches him a little lesson in empathy…

  • Let me tell you a story about how I embarrassed a guy who didn't tip us. It was like a 400 dollar check and he comes up, he puts a big fat zero in the tip line, doesn't leave any cash signs, his name goes on his way. I said it to the side. His friend comes up, his friend is a bartender, I end up learning. His friend comes up and his friend's like, "hey, can I close up my tab?" He tips really well, blah blah blah.

So you just signed this two minutes ago, that's your signature and that's your big fat zero." He goes," I left cash!!" I was like, "You did not leave cash. Maybe that was your intention. Totally fine. Either way, like, tips get made up by other people. It all balances out. I'm just wondering if there's anything that we can do as a staff to improve the experience for next time."

  • His friend threw down like $200 bucks cash for me. Then the dude was like, "no, that was a mistake! That was a mistake!" He's crossing up the zero and then he's giving us like a huge ***king tip cause he was so embarrassed. His bartender friend was like, "I am so ***king sorry about him." I was like, "it's really no worry at all." He goes, "I saw what you did. I like it." And he threw another $50 down.

  • Neysa Nichole I did this once, it was a big family of like 12 and the fun gay uncles set everything up but the older aunt insisted she pai d, I was the only one on it was between shifts nbd. I'm clea ning up and grab the check to put in my pocket and notice a 0 and no cash and then they ask me to take a picture outs ide. Absolutely, then as I'm handing the phone back I asked the same question you did, everyone was so mortified. The fun gay uncles brought me back Chai and cupcakes with $1 00.
